Addressing the Need for Phonological Awareness and Phonics
This project relates to the Teacher Leader Model Standards:
III. Domain: Promoting Professional Learning for Continuous Improvement.
3.5 Works with colleagues to collect, analyze, disseminate data related to the quality of professional learning and its effect on teaching and student learning.
IV. Facilitating Improvements in Instruction and Student Learning 4.6 Promotes instructional strategies that address issues of diversity and equity in the classroom and ensures that individual student learning needs remain the central focus of instruction.

Project Goals:
- To raise administrative awareness of the process of addressing struggling readers.
- To equip teachers with the foundational skills of Phonological Awareness and Phonics.
- To use data to fine-tune instructional strategies in meeting the challenges of assisting intensive needs students.
- To assist teachers in adjusting strategies for improving scores in DIBELS: Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills and Accelerated Reading Levels.
